HEALTH INSURANCE ACT 1973

 

Health Insurance (Medicare Benefits Payable in Respect of Professional Services – Radiology Services provided under the National Lung Cancer Screening Program) Direction 2025

I, Nigel Murray, Assistant Secretary, MBS Policy and Specialist Programs Branch, Medicare Benefits and Digital Health Division, Health Resourcing Group, delegate for the Minister for Health and Ageing, acting under subsection 19(5) of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (the Act) hereby:

DIRECT that Medicare benefits shall be payable in respect of:

  1.    A professional service provided to an eligible person for the purpose of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program, where the professional service is listed under Medicare Benefits Schedule item(s):
    1.    Item 57410 - Screening low dose computed tomography scan;
    2.    Item 57413 - Interval low dose computed tomography scan.
       

DECLARE that this Direction shall come into effect on 1 July 2025.

 

Note: Terms used in this Direction have the same meaning as in the Act.
