1 Name of Regulations [see Note 1]

  These Regulations are the Foreign States Immunities Regulations 1987.

2 Interpretation

  In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears, the Act means the Foreign States Immunities Act 1985.

2A Emergency prevention and management — bushfires

  Section 13 of the Act does not apply to acts or omissions of the United States of America (or a separate entity of the United States of America) if those acts or omissions are carried out:

 (a) in the course of providing facilities or assistance to the Government of Australia, or the Government of an Australian State or Territory; and

 (b) for the purpose of preparing for, preventing or managing bushfires in Australia.

3 Taxes: no immunity in proceedings

  The provisions of the laws of Australia with respect to taxation specified in the Schedule are prescribed for the purposes of section 20 of the Act.
