Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999

Subsection 209(1)

 

Amendment of the List of Migratory Species

 

 

 

I, DAVID ALISTAIR KEMP, Minister for the Environment and Heritage, pursuant to

paragraph 209(1)(b) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, hereby amend the List of Migratory Species established under section 209 of that Act by including in it the following migratory species, in consequence of their inclusion in the appendices to the Convention of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, done at Bonn on

23 June 1979 (‘Bonn Convention’):

 

Antarctic Minke Whale Balaenoptera bonaerensis

Bryde’s whale  Balaenoptera edeni

Fin Whale  Balaenoptera physalus

Pygmy Right Whale  Caperea marginata

Sei Whale  Balaenoptera borealis

Sperm whale  Physeter macrocephalus

Killer whale    Orcinus orca

Great White Shark  Carcharodon carcharias

 

This amendment takes effect on 23 December 2002.
