Australian National University DISCIPLINE Rule 2020 

 

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Authority for making the instrument.  The Governance Statute, section 68(1) (General power to make rules and orders).

 

2. Purpose and operation of the instrument.  The Rule defines misconduct by students of the University and set out the consequences of, and University procedures for dealing with, misconduct.  At meeting 5/2020 of the Academic Board on 20 October 2020 the following resolution was made:  “Academic Board endorsed proposed changes to the Discipline Rule 2018 to support alignment with the new Student Code of Conduct, for transmission to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.”  The revised rule will enable the Student Code of Code to be given effect to through the provisions of the rule.

 

3. Documents incorporated in the instrument by reference.  None.

 

4. Consultation process.  The Rule was made by the Vice-Chancellor on 22 December 2020
