Designation of wetlands for inclusion in the List of Wetlands of International Importance kept under the Ramsar Convention.

 

I, MARK GRAHAM TAYLOR, Assistant Secretary, Wetlands Policy and Northern Water Use Branch, delegate for the Minister of the Environment and Energy, hereby give notice, pursuant to section 327(1)(a) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth), of the designation on 28 February 2018 of the following wetland for inclusion in the List of Wetlands of International Importance kept under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat, done at Ramsar on 2 February 1971 (Ramsar Convention):

67. Glenelg Estuary and Discovery Bay Wetlands

The Glenelg Estuary and Discovery Bay Wetlands Ramsar site in Victoria comprises:

- The Discovery Bay Coastal Park north of Discovery Bay Road and adjoining beach areas to the low tide mark. It includes: allotment 11 of Section 5 on Parish Plan PP3202, allotment 9 of Section A on Parish Plan PP2861, allotments 6A, 7A, 15A, 12A, 41B, 24C and 8 on Parish Plan PP3749, allotments 14A of Section A and 23A, 23B on Parish Plan PP2673, allotments 1B, 5, 6 and 7 of Section A on Parish Plan PP3553 and allotment 12 of Section 9 on Parish Plan PP3553.

- The Nelson Streamside Reserve, and adjacent parcels on the Glenelg River, including: allotment 44A on Parish Plan PP2673 and allotments 2A and 30A of Section 5 on Parish Plan PP5584

- The Lower Glenelg National Park west of the Winnap-Nelson Road, including: allotments 1A, 38A and 41B on Parish Plan PP2055, allotment 5A on Parish Plan PP2673, allotment 17 of Section 5 on Parish Plan PP2861, allotment 23 on Parish Plan PP2884, allotment 17 on Parish Plan PP3365, allotment 49 and 2001 on Parish Plan PP3733 and allotment 44 on Parish Plan PP3749.

The Glenelg Estuary and Discovery Bay Wetlands Ramsar site is identified in the maps at Annex A.
