REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1973, THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1973 AND THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1973.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1973, the Naval Defence Act 1910-1973 and the Air Force Act 1923-1973.

Amendments of th0065 Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations
Uniform maintenance allowance.
1. Regulation 14 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) of sub-regulation (2) and substituting the following paragraphs:—
“ (a) in the case of an officer—$210.00;
(b) in the case of a member holding a rank specified in Part I of Schedule 7, or Part I of Schedule 8, or who is a member referred to in regulation 9, other than a member referred to in paragraph (c) or (e)—$130.00;
(c) in the case of a member of the Naval Forces who holds the rank of Midshipman or is a subordinate officer holding a higher rank, who is required to become, and becomes, a member of a wardroom mess on a permanent basis—$210.00;
(d) in the case of a member holding a rank specified in Part II or Part III of Schedule 7, or Part II or Part III of Schedule 8, other than a member referred to in paragraph (e)—$155.00; and ”.
Senior Chaplain’s allowance.
2. Regulation 16 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting the figures “ $278.00 ” and substituting the figures “ $297.00 ”.

Transitional—Senior Chaplain’s allowance.
5. (1) The rate of Senior Chaplain’s allowance payable to an officer of the Chaplain’s Branch of the Naval Forces who holds an appointment of Senior Chaplain shall, in respect of the period from and including 21 February 1975 to and including 15 May 1975, be the rate of Senior Chaplain’s allowance that would have been applicable to the officer if the figures “ $287.00 ” had, at the commencement of that period, been substituted for the figures “ $278.00 ” in regulation 16 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations and that regulation as so amended had remained in force during the whole of that period.
(2) Sub-regulation (1) has effect from and including, and shall be deemed to have taken effect on, 21 February 1975.
Transitional—salary payable to officers.
6. (1) The rate of salary payable to a member of the Defence Force included in a class of members the description of which is specified in the heading to Schedule 2, 3, 4 or 6 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations shall, in respect of service—
(a) in the case of a member of the Naval Forces or the Military Forces—during the period from and including 21 February 1975 to and including 15 May 1975; or
(b) in the case of a member of the Air Force—during the period from and including 20 February 1975 to and including 14 May 1975,
be the rate of salary that would have been applicable to the member during that period if the following Schedules had, at the commencement of that period, been substituted for Schedules 2, 3, 4 and 6 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations and had remained in force during the whole of that period:—

(2) The rate of salary payable to a medical officer or a dental officer who holds the rank of Commodore in the Naval Forces, Brigadier in the Military Forces or Air Commodore in the Air Force shall be—
(a) in respect of service by a member of the Naval Forces or the Military Forces during the period from and including 16 May 1975 to and including 5 August 1975—$22,272 per year; and
(b) in respect of service by a member of the Air Force during the period from and including 15 May 1975 to and including 5 August 1975—$22,272 per year.
(3) The rate of salary payable to a medical officer performing a year of compulsory residency in a hospital shall, in respect of service—
(a) in the case of a member of the Naval Forces or the Military Forces—during the period from and including 21 February 1975 to and including 15 May 1975; or
(b) in the case of a member of the Air Force—during the period from and including 20 February 1975 to and including 14 May 1975,
be $9,786 per year.
Application.
7. (1) The amendment of regulation 14 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations effected by regulation 1 of these Regulations applies to and in relation to—
(a) members of the Naval Forces and of the Military Forces—as if that amendment had come into operation on 21 February 1975; and
(b) members of the Air Force—as if that amendment had come into operation on 20 February 1975.
(2) The amendments of regulation 16 of the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations and of Schedules 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 to those Regulations effected by regulations 2 and 4 of these Regulations apply to and in relation to—
(a) members of the Naval Forces and of the Military Forces—as if those amendments had come into operation on 16 May 1975; and
(b) members of the Air Force—as if those amendments had come into operation on 15 May 1975.
(3) The amendment of Schedule 5 to the Defence Force (Salaries) Regulations effected by regulation 4 of these Regulations applies to and in relation to—
(a) members of the Defence Force who hold the rank of Commodore in the Naval Forces, Brigadier in the Military Forces or Air Commodore in the Air Force—as if that amendment had come into operation on 6 August 1975;
(b) members of the Naval Forces and of the Military Forces, other than members referred to in paragraph (a)—as if that amendment had come into operation on 16 May 1975; and
(c) members of the Air Force, other than members referred to in paragraph (a)—as if that amendment had come into operation on 15 May 1975.
