DECLARATION OF AN APPROVED WILDLIFE TRADE OPERATION

 

1. I, Paul Murphy, Assistant Secretary, Wildlife Trade and Biosecurity Branch, as Delegate of the Minister for the Environment:  

(a)          having considered the comments that were given in response to an invitation under section 303FR(1) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (the EPBC Act); and

(b)          being satisfied as to the matters set out in section 303FN of the EPBC Act,

declare that an operation to commercially export preserved taxidermy specimens of native Australian wildlife and non-native exotic species by South Pacific Taxidermy Pty Ltd of Melbourne, Victoria, is an approved small-scale wildlife trade operation for the purposes of section 303FT of the EPBC Act.

2. The Plan is subject to the declaration in paragraph 1 only:

(a)          for a period of three years from the date of publication on the Federal Register of Legislation;

(b)          while the conditions specified in the Schedule to this Declaration are complied with.

SCHEDULE

 

Condition 1

The operation is undertaken in accordance with the proposal submitted by Mr Gary Pegg of South Pacific Taxidermy on 8 May 2017.

Condition 2

Mr Gary Pegg is required to maintain a current Commercial Wildlife (Wildlife Taxidermist) Licence, issued by the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in accordance with the Victorian Wildlife Act 1975 and Section 52 of the Victorian Wildlife Regulations 2013.

Condition 3

Accurate records must be maintained and kept up-to-date in accordance with the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning requirements. If requested, these records will be made available to the Department of the Environment and Energy in a timely manner.

Condition 4

All species identified on Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and all species listed as threatened under the EPBC Act are excluded from this operation.
