DAIRY INDUSTRY STABILIZATION REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

The Dairy Industry Stabilization Act 1977 provides for the Governor-General to make regulations for the purpose of the collection of levy imposed by the Dairy Industry Stabilization Levy Act 1977. The first Act provides that regulations may prescribe the manner and payment of levy and require prersons to furnish returns for the purposes of that Act.

Regulation 6 of the Dairy Industry Stabilization Regulations prescribes persons who are required to submit monthly returns. In particular, sub-regulation 6(4) requires that where, in any month, no dairy products on which levy is imposed have been sold or used by a person in the production of other products, that person shall furnish a statement to that effect to the Director, Financial Management in the Department of Primary Industry.

With effect from 1 July 1986 the Dairy Industry Stabilization Regulations are to be amended to remove this requirement to submit monthly ‘nil’ returns or statements.
