Customs (Prohibited Exports Regulations (Amendment)

Regulation 9 of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations prohibits the exportation of goods contained in the 7th Schedule to the Regulations without the permission of the Minister for Trade.
Export controls on tin under the International Tin Agreement, to which Australia is a party, were terminated on 31 March 1986. Although the agreement remains in force until 30 June 1987, the Minister for Trade has indicated that it is most unlikely that the export control provisions will again be invoked. Accordingly, he requested that the export controls on tin be removed from the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations.
The opportunity has also been taken to replace references in Regulation 9 and in the Seventh Schedule to the “Minister for Trade and Resources” with references to the “Minister for Trade” so as to reflect the current administrative arrangements.
The Regulations amend the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations as follows;
Regulation 1 Omits the words “and Resources” from Paragraph 9(1)(a).
Regulation 2 Omits the words “and Resources” from the heading of the Seventh Schedule, and omits item 15 – ie.
“Tin ores and concentrates, slag and other residues contaning tin and resulting from the refining of tin, unwrought refined tin”.
from that Schedule.
