REGULATIONS UNDER THE CURRENCY ACT 1965-1973.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Currency Act 1965-1973.

Amendments of the Currency Regulations†
Standard weight of coins.
1. Regulation 3 of the Currency Regulations is amended by omitting all words from and including the word “specified” and substituting the following word and paragraphs:—
“specified—
(a) in respect of a coin made on or before 31 December 1974— in the second column of Schedule 1 in relation to the denomination of the coin; and
(b) in respect of a coin made on or after 1 January 1975—in the second column of Schedule 2 in relation to the denomination of the coin.”.
Dimensions of coins.
2. Regulation 5 of the Currency Regulations is amended by omitting paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting the following paragraphs:—
“(a) in respect of a coin made on or before 31 December 1974—
(i) for the shortest diameter of a coin of the denomination of Fifty cents or for the diameter of a coin of another denomination—a length not exceeding the length specified in the third column of Schedule 1 in relation to the denomination of the coin; and
(ii) for the thickness of the coin—a thickness not exceeding the thickness specified in the fourth column of Schedule 1 in relation to the denomination of the coin; and

“(b) in respect of a coin made on or after 1 January 1975—
(i) for the shortest diameter of a coin of the denomination of Fifty cents or for the diameter of a coin of another denomination—a length not exceeding the length specified in the third column of Schedule 2 in relation to the denomination of the coin; and
(ii) for the thickness of the coin—a thickness not exceeding the thickness specified in the fourth column of Schedule 2 in relation to the denomination of the coin.”.
Remedy in respect of weight of coins.
3. Regulation 6 of the Currency Regulations is amended by omitting all words from and including the word “specified” and substituting the following word and paragraphs:—
“specified—
(a) in respect of a coin made on or before 31 December 1974— in the fifth column of Schedule 1 in relation to the denomination of the coin; and
(b) in respect of a coin made on or after 1 January 1975—in the fifth column of Schedule 2 in relation to the denomination of the coin.
The Schedule.
4. The Schedule to the Currency Regulations is repealed and the following Schedules substituted:—

Commencement.
5. The amendments effected by these Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 1975.
