Currency Determination No. 3 of 1995

1. This Determination may be cited as Currency Determination No. 3 of 1995.

2. This Determination commences on 13 September 1994.
Application of the Determination
3. This Determination (other than clause 33) does not affect any other determination of the specifications or design of a coin.
Schedule to the Act
4. The Act has effect, on and after the commencement of this Determination, as if:
(a) there were included in the Schedule to the Act a reference to a denomination of “One hundred and fifty dollars”; and
(b) there were specified in that Schedule, opposite to that denomination, as the standard composition of coins of that denomination, the expression “not less than 99.99% gold”.
Specifications and design of a 20 cent coin
5. (1) This clause sets out the specifications and design of a coin of the denomination of 20 cents the standard composition of which includes copper and nickel.
(2) The shape of the coin is circular.
(3) The edge of the coin is milled.
(4) The standard weight of the coin is 11.30 grams.
(5) A variation of 0.33 grams from the standard weight is allowed.
(6) The diameter of the coin is 28.65 millimetres.
(7) The thickness of the coin is 2.52 millimetres.
(8) The obverse of the coin bears:
(a) an effigy of the Queen; and
(b) the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “1995”.

Amendment of Currency Determination No. 5 of 1994
33. Currency Determination No. 5 of 19941 is amended by omitting paragraph 8 (13) (b) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(b) a representation of a mountain range, the Southern Cross and telegraph poles across the desert; and”.
