1 Name of Regulations
These Regulations are the Crimes (Overseas) (Declared Foreign Countries) Regulations 2003.
3 Definition
In these Regulations:
Act means the Crimes (Overseas) Act 1964.
4 Iraq
(1) For paragraph 3C(1)(a) of the Act, Iraq is a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act.
(2) For subsection 3C(3) of the Act:
(a) Iraq is taken to have been a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on and after 1 July 2009; and
(b) Iraq is to cease being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 30 June 2019.
5 Solomon Islands
(1) For paragraph 3C(1)(a) of the Act, Solomon Islands is a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act.
(2) For subsection 3C(3) of the Act:
(a) Solomon Islands is taken to have been a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on and after 1 July 2009; and
(b) Solomon Islands is to cease being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 30 June 2019.
6 Papua New Guinea
(1) For paragraph 3C(1)(a) of the Act, Papua New Guinea is a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act.
(2) For subsection 3C(3) of the Act:
(a) Papua New Guinea is taken to have been a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on and after 1 July 2009; and
(b) Papua New Guinea is to cease being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 30 June 2019.
7 Afghanistan
(1) For paragraph 3C(1)(a) of the Act, Afghanistan is a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act.
(2) For subsection 3C(3) of the Act:
(a) Afghanistan is taken to have been a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on and after 1 July 2009; and
(b) Afghanistan is to cease being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 30 June 2019.
8 Nauru
(1) For paragraph 3C(1)(a) of the Act, Nauru is a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act.
(2) For subsection 3C(3) of the Act:
(a) Nauru is to start being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 10 December 2012; and
(b) Nauru is to cease being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on 9 December 2022.

Editorial changes
The Legislation Act 2003 authorises First Parliamentary Counsel to make editorial and presentational changes to a compiled law in preparing a compilation of the law for registration. The changes must not change the effect of the law. Editorial changes take effect from the compilation registration date.

Misdescribed amendments
A misdescribed amendment is an amendment that does not accurately describe the amendment to be made. If, despite the misdescription, the amendment can be given effect as intended, the amendment is incorporated into the compiled law and the abbreviation “(md)” added to the details of the amendment included in the amendment history.
If a misdescribed amendment cannot be given effect as intended, the abbreviation “(md not incorp)” is added to the details of the amendment included in the amendment history.
