For outstanding devotion to duty in extreme circumstances

as the leader of Hose Team 1 during the fire in HMAS Westralia

on 5 May 1998.

 

 

Mr Trevor John MITCHELL

Vic

For outstanding devotion to duty in extreme circumstances

as the leader of Hose Team 2 during the fire in HMAS Westralia

on 5 May 1998.

Mr James Allan CAIN, WA

For outstanding devotion to duty in extreme circumstances as the leader of Hose Team 3 during the fire in HMAS Westralia on 5 May 1998.

 

Mr (then Leading Seaman) Cain demonstrated outstanding professionalism, bravery, dedication and determination in the performance of his duties as the leader of Hose Team 3. Despite the severity of the fire, the lack of visibility and the emotional stress of the situation, he provided inspirational leadership to his team members whilst managing their safety and wellbeing.

Despite the severity of the fire, the lack of visibility and the emotional stress of the situation, he provided inspirational leadership to his team members whilst managing their safety and wellbeing.
