Compensation (Commonwealth Government Employees) Regulations (Amendment)

The purpose of the proposed Statutory Rules is to give effect to the proposal of the Government to ensure that the Compensation (Commonwealth Government Employees) Act 1971 applies to employees of Australian Airlines Limited in the same way as it applied to employees of the Australian National Airlines Commission before the commencement of section 15 of the Australian Airlines (Conversion to Public Company) Act 1988.

Regulation 1 of the proposed Statutory Rules will provide that the Regulations will come into operation on the date of commencement of section 15 of the Australian Airlines (Conversion to Public Company) Act 1988.

Regulation 2 of the proposed Statutory Rules will amend Regulation 9 of the Compensation (Commonwealth Government Employees) Regulations by adding a new subregulation which would prescribe Australian Airlines Limited to be a body corporate to which the Act applies.
