REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 19221934.*

I, THE GOVERNORGENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives hereby make the following Regulations under the Commonwealth Public Service Act 19221934.

Amendments of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations.

Salaries of officers of the Third Division.

1. Regulation 69 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from Table C in subregulation (2) the following words and figures:—

“AssistantLibrarian in the National Library.....|456|528|18”;

(b) by inserting in that Table, after the words and figures:—

“Research Clerk................................|312|402|18”,

the following words and figures:—

“Legislative Research Clerk.......................|312|402|18

“Reading Room Officer (National Library).............|312|402|18”;

and

(c) by inserting in that Table, after the words and figures—

“Reading Room Attendant and Magazine Clerk.........|282|354|12”,

the following words and figures:—

“Reading Room Attendant.........................|†96|†306|†”.

Salaries of officers of the Fourth Division

2. Regulation 70 of the Commonwealth Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in Table C in subregulation (2), after the words:

“Junior Attendant...............................|272|288|8’’,

the following words and figures:—

“Assistant.....................................|*87|*250|*

“Typist.......................................|†87|†246|†”;

(b) by inserting after Table E in that subregulation the following foot notes:—

“*Under 17 years, £87; at 17 years, £99; at 18 years, £117; at 19 years, £141; at 20 years, £171; at 21 years, £218; and thereafter increments of £8 annually.

“†Under 17 years, £87; at 17 years, £99; at 18 years, £111; at 19 years, £129; at 20 years, £153; at 21 years, £174; and thereafter increments of £8 annually.”; and

(c) by inserting after subregulation (2) the following subregulation:—

“(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, an officer in the Parliamentary Library occupying an office of Typist shall not be advanced in salary beyond £230 per annum except upon evidence to the satisfaction of the Parliamentary Head of proficiency in the duties of the office justifying that advancement.”
