REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMERCE (TRADE DESCRIPTIONS) ACT 1905-1950.*
I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Commerce (Trade Descriptions) Act 1905-1950.

Amendments of the Commerce (Imports) Regulations.†
Commencement.
1. These Regulations shall come into operation upon the expiration of three months after the date on which they are notified in the Gazette.
Definitions.
2. Regulation 5 of the Commerce (Imports) Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of “ sole” and inserting in its stead the following definition :—
“ ‘ sole ’, in relation to a boot or shoe, means all that part of the boot or shoe that in use is under the foot of the wearer, except—
(a) the thin slip of leather, paper or other material similar to leather or paper, that is affixed to the upper surface of the inner sole;
(b) the shank;
(c) a wooden heel;
(d) an ordinary filler of cork or of waterproof felt; and
(e) canvas used to reinforce the inner sole ; ”

Apparel (including boots and shoes).
3. Regulation 15 of the Commerce (imports) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (8.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation :—
“ (8.) In the case of boots and shoes (other than boots and shoes of which the outer sole is composed wholly of rubber), the trade description shall—
(a) set out the material of which the sole is composed; and
(b) be conspicuously, legibly and indelibly stamped upon or impressed into the outer surface of the sole of each boot or shoe.”.
