DETERMINATION UNDER SUBREGULATION 257 (1)

 

METEOROLOGICAL MINIMA

 

I, WILLIAM BRUCE BYRON, Director of Aviation Safety, on behalf of CASA, under subregulation 257 (1) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988:

 

 (a) revoke instrument CASA 263/03; and

 

 (b) issue the following determination in respect of meteorological minima for aircraft taking off or landing at an aerodrome in Australian territory and for Australian aircraft taking off or landing at an aerodrome outside Australian Territory.

DETERMINATION OF METEOROLOGICAL MINIMA

 

(1) The standard meteorological minima for aircraft taking off are as set out in the following tables:

(2) The meteorological minima for aircraft landing are:

 (a) for aerodromes with an approved instrument approach procedure — the minima specified in the instrument approach chart for carrying out that procedure, being a decision height of not less than 200 feet and visibility of not less than 800 metres; or

 (b) for other aerodromes:

 (i) in the case of day IFR — visual approach requirements; and

 (ii) in the case of night IFR — VMC from the lowest safe altitude within 3 nautical miles.

 

(3) The meteorological minima for aircraft taking off or landing are subject to specific minima set out in aerodrome charts issued for individual aerodromes.
