Australian War Memorial Regulations (Amendment)

Section 42 of the Australian War Memorial Act 1980 (the Act) provides that the Governor-General may make Regulations for the purposes of the Act and in particular for fixing charges for entry onto any land, or into any building, owned by or under the control of the Memorial.

Regulation 8A which was inserted by the Australian War Memorial Regulations (Amendment) Statutory Rules 1994 No. 375 introduced charges for entry into the exhibition areas of the Treloar Centre. Sub-regulation 8A(2) excluded certain persons from charges for entry and included "a person who is invited by an authorised officer of the Memorial to enter the exhibition areas without charge'. However, the Regulations did not appear to provide who the 'authorised officers' were.

Paragraph 8A(2)(c) has been amended to approve the Assistant Director, National Collection and the Manager, Treloar Centre as 'authorised officers' for the purposes of the Regulations.

The Regulations commenced on the date of Gazettal.
