Authority
Section 60 of the Australian Research Council Act 2001 (the Act) provides that the Minister must approve ARC funding rules.
Purpose and effect
Linkage Learned Academies Special Projects (LASP) is a scheme funded under the Australian Research Council’s National Competitive Grants Program. The scheme supports the development of Australian research. LASP aims to provide the Learned Academies, the Australian Council of Learned Academies and/or the National Academies Forum with the flexibility to achieve that objective.
A variation to these rules was approved under section 61 of the Act by the Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, Minister Chris Evans, on 30 March 2012. Details of the approved variation to Linkage Learned Academies Special Projects (LASP) Funding Rules for funding commencing in 2010 Variation (No.2):
- Throughout the entire document replace ’20 January 2010’ with ’15 May 2012’
- Add the ‘Australian Council of Learned Academies’ to Appendix 1: Eligible Organisations.
- Throughout the entire document, add ‘the Australian Council of Learned Academies’ where there are mentions of eligible organisations.
- In 8.1.3 and 8.1.4, replace ‘$120,000’ with ‘$500,000’.
- In 7.1.1 (h) and 8.5.1, replace ‘two’ with ‘ten’. Also, remove ‘or which at least three Learned Academies would be listed’.
- Throughout the entire document replace ‘1st floor, 8 Brindabella Circuit, CANBERRA PARK ACT 2609’ to ‘Level 2, 11 Lancaster Place, MAJURA PARK ACT 2609’.
Commencement
The Linkage Learned Academies Special Projects (LASP) Funding Rules for funding commencing in 2010 Variation (No.2) shall take effect upon registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.
