I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and under subsection 2 (1) of the Australian Research Council Act 2001, fix 1 July 2001 as the day on which that Act commences.
