Australian National Maritime Museum Act 1990

Australian National Maritime Museum Regulations (Amendment)

Section 54 of the Australian National Maritime Museum Act 1990 (the Act) provides that the Governor-General may make regulations, not inconsistent with the Act, prescribing all matters that are required or permitted by the Act to be prescribed or are necessary or convenient to be prescribed for carrying out or giving effect to the Act, and in particular for fixing charges for entering any Museum premises.

Part 8 of the Student and Youth Assistance Act 1973 provides for a Youth Training Allowance, which is payable as income support to unemployed people under the age of 18 years.

This amendment includes a reference to recipients of the Youth Training Allowance thereby exempting those recipients from payment of the entry charge to the Maritime Museum.

The amendment to the Regulations commences on gazettal.
