REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1918.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1918 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendments.
Regulations 195 and 196 are repealed, and the following now regulations made in lieu thereof:—
195. The ranks and appointments hold by warrant officers, non-commissioned officers and men are set forth in the following Table. The grant under due authority of any appointment therein detailed will confer upon the holder the rank specified opposite that appointment in the Table

(a) The rank “C.C.M.S.” has been substituted for that of “Colour Sergeant” appearing in King’s Regulation, on the latter rank has been abolished
196. The following shall be the order of precedence of warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and men:—

iv. All other Warrant Officers (Class I.). |
Warrant Officers in Groups i. and iv. respectively rank with one another in these Groups according to the date of their promotion or appointment except that a regimental or battalion Sergeant-Major ranks regimentally senior to the other members of Group iv.
Warrant Officers (Class II.)
i. Master Gunner (3rd Class.
ii. Staff Sergeant-Major (3rd Class).
iii. Quartermaster-Sergeant.
iv. Squadron, Battery, Troop or Company Sergeant-Major.
Warrant Officers in any of the foregoing groups will take precedence with one another according to the date of their promotion, except that:—
(a) A brigade Q.M.S. will take precedence of all Q.M.S.
(b) A regimental or battalion Q.M.S. will rank regimentally above all other Warrant Officers (Class II.) holding the appointment of Q.M.S.
Non-commissioned Officers and Men.
i. Squadron, Battery, Troop or Company Q.M.S, Staff Sergeant.
ii. Sergeant.
iii. Corporal.
iv. Bombardier or 2nd Corporal.
v. Trooper, Gunner, Driver, Sapper, Pioneer (Engineer), or Private.
(a) N.C.O.’s holding the appointment of Farrier Staff Sergeant will rank regimentally below the Company, &c., Quartermaster-Sergeant.
(b) A Lance-Sergeant or Acting Lance-Sergeant takes precedence of all Corporals and an Acting Bombardier; a Lance-Corporal or an Acting Lance-Corporal takes precedence of all Privates, &c.
