RULES FOR AMC RESIDENCES

 

 

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

 

 

  1.      Authority for making the instrument:  

 

The Maritime College Act 1978 section 24 authorises AMC Council to make Statutes not inconsistent with the Act.   A Statute may provide for empowering any authority (including the Council) or officer of the College to make rules, not inconsistent with the Act or the Statute, for carrying out or giving effect to the Statute.

 

Australian Maritime College  Statute No. 2 General Management Statute- authorises AMC Council to make rules relating to management, good government  and discipline, the discharge of debts and the operation of facilities.

 

2. Purpose and operation of the instrument:

 

The Rules outline the conditions for the administration and discipline of AMC Residences.

 

This document repeals the Rules for AMC Residences made on 16 September 1999 and makes the following rules, containing minor changes in line with changes to AMC structures, roles, reporting lines and responsibilities. 

 

2.         Documents incorporated in the instrument by reference: 

 

None.

 

 

3.         Consultation process: 

 

Senior administrative staff were consulted with respect to the required changes.   The revised Rules were approved by AMC Council.
