EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

STATUTORY RULES 1984 NO. 164

AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

ISSUED BY THE SPECIAL MINISTER OF STATE

Section 40 of the Australian Federal Police Act provides for, amongst other things, the early retirement from the Australian Federal Police who have attained the age of 55 years.

The proposed regulation 40A prescribes:-

 that a member of the Australian Federal Police who has attained 55 years of age may retire from the Australian Federal Police at any time he desires to do so;

 the manner in which he should give notice and the period of notice required.
