EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

STATUTORY RULES 1988 NO. 84

ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE MINISTER FOR JUSTICE

AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

The purpose of these amendments to subr.5(2) of the Australian Federal Police Regulations is to:

 remove the restriction that a Superintendent may only be promoted from the rank of Chief Inspector; and

 make the only prerequisite for promotion to a rank higher than Inspector be that a person be a commissioned officer.
