Archives Regulations (Amendment)

The purpose of amending Regulation 8 of Archives Regulations by inserting subregulation (1A) is to provide for a schedule of charges (Part 1A of Schedule 1) for copies of the Australian National Guide to Archival Material or of any part of the Guide. The greater part of this Guide is new stored in machine-readable format from which computer output is available in the form of either pages of printout or microfiche. The charges, prescribed pursuant to section 66(6) of the Archives Act 1983, are aimed at cost recovery.
For the same reason Part 1 of Schedule 1, which is made pursuant to section 36(2) (b) of the Archives Act, is also amended to provide for increased charges for copies of Commonwealth records made available for public access in accordance with Part V of the Act.
