Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Rules 2017 rules 53(2), 74(2), 77(1) and 133(5)

APPOINTMENT OF POLLING PLACES FOR THE BY-ELECTION IN THE UGAR ISLAND WARD OF THE TORRES STRAIT REGIONAL AUTHORITY

I, Jeff Pope, acting as the Electoral Commissioner under subsection 19(3) of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, and exercising the power conferred on me under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005 for the purposes of the 2019 Ugar Island ward by-election, hereby:

(a)        DECLARE, under rule 53(2) of the Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Rules 2017 (TSRA Election Rules), the places in Column 1 of Schedule 1 to be pre-polling voting offices and DETERMINE the days and hours in Column 2 of Schedule 1 the pre-polling voting offices are to be open for polling;

(b)        APPOINT, under rule 133(5) of the TSRA Election Rules, the place in Column 1 of Schedule 2 to be a polling place and DETERMINE, under rule 74(2), of the TSRA Election Rules the day and hours in Column 2 of Schedule 2 the polling place is to be open for polling;

(c)        DECLARE, under rule 77(1) of the TSRA Election Rules, the hospitals in Column 1 of Schedule 3 to be special hospitals for the purposes of taking votes as mobile polling booths and DETERMINE the days and hours in Column 2 of Schedule 3 the mobile polling booths are to be open for polling; and

(d)  DECLARE this instrument takes effect on execution.
