ORDER UNDER PARAGRAPH 256(1)(a)

Appointment of Norfolk Island Regional Council Administrators Proclamation 2024

 

Under paragraph 256(1)(a) of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW)(NI) (the Act), and subsequent to the Dismissal of Norfolk Island Regional Council and Appointment of Administrator Proclamation 2021 made on 6 December 2021, I, Kristy McBain, Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, appoint Scott Mason and Gary Mattau as administrators of the Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC) beginning on 6 December 2024 until 31 December 2025.

 

Under subsection 258(1A) of the Act I specify that each of Scott Mason and Gary Mattau during the period of appointment has all the functions of the NIRC (including all functions of a councillor) except those functions of the mayor of the NIRC.

 

Under subsection 258(2A) of the Act I direct that Scott Mason and Garry Mattau may exercise those functions of the NIRC, except those of the mayor of the NIRC, jointly or individually.

 

Under subsection 258(1A) of the Act I specify that Scott Mason during the period of appointment also has the functions of the mayor of NIRC. Under subsection 258(1B) of the Act I specify Scott Mason to be the person who will exercise the functions of the mayor of NIRC during the period of appointment.

 

This proclamation commences upon publication in the Commonwealth Gazette.
