EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR TABLING
The Repatriation Medical Authority has determined, under subsection 196B(2) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986, the attached instrument Number 193 of 1995.
2. This instrument amends Instrument No.109 of 1995 (Statement of Principles concerning sickle-cell disease) as the result of a review by the Repatriation Medical Authority of the ICD coding used in the original instrument.
3. The new instrument amends the previous instrument by:
inserting in the heading an additional ICD code; and
inserting in paragraph 4 a revised definition of “sickle-cell disease” to reflect the change in ICD coding.
4. The additional ICD code 282.5 expands the aspects of the condition, sickle-cell disease, included in this instrument, and replaces the more restrictive coding previously used.
