EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR TABLING
- The Repatriation Medical Authority (the Authority) has determined, under subsection 196B(10) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the VEA) Statement of Principles Instrument No. 46 of 2010 concerning neoplasm of the pituitary gland.
2. This instrument amends Statement of Principles Instrument No. 42 of 2004 concerning neoplasm of the pituitary gland as follows:
- deleting the existing onset and worsening factors concerning 'bilateral adrenalectomy';
- inserting a new 5(a) factor concerning 'bilateral adrenalectomy';
- re-numbering the existing factor 5(c) as 5(b); and
- replacing the existing clause 6 to reflect the changes to the factors.
3. The amendments are made at the direction of the Specialist Medical Review Council (SMRC) in accordance with its Declaration No. 13 dated 25 February 2010. The SMRC Declaration appeared in the Government Notices Gazette of 10 March 2010.
4. In accordance with subsection 196B(13) of the VEA, the amendments as made by Instrument No. 46 of 2010, take effect from 10 March 2010.
