An Act to amend the Aliens Act 1947–1952.
[Assented to 13th May, 1959.]
BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Aliens Act 1959.
(2.) The Aliens Act 1947–1952 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Aliens Act 1947–1959.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Definitions.
3. Section four of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the definition of “certificate of registration”.
Repeal of sections 12 and 12a.
4. Sections twelve and twelve a of the Principal Act are repealed.
Settlement of cases.
5. Section eighteen of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words “section ten, section ten a or section twelve” and inserting in their stead the words “section ten or section ten a”.
