EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

STATUTORY RULES 1983 NO. 300

ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE MINISTER FOR DEFENCE

AMENDMENT OF THE AIR FORCE REGULATIONS

Section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979 allows the Minister to make interim determinations amending or repealing regulations. The Act also deems such interim determinations to be Statutory Rules.

Regulation 615 of the Air Force Regulations provides for payment of Woomera Allowance to members of the Air Force posted for duty to the Woomera locality.

Determinations 0302, Woomera Allowance and 0306, Broken Hill Allowance, two tri-service determinations, have been made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903 as part of a program of consolidating legislation concerning conditions of service for members of the Defence Force. Determination 0302 replaces regulation 615 of the Air Force Regulations. Air Force did not have any previous requirement for Broken Hill Allowance.

These Statutory Rules repeal regulation 615 with effect from the date Determination 0302 is made.

Some minor consequential amendments have also been made to regulation 615A of the Air Force Regulations by including references to Determinations 0302 and 0306.
