REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1965.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1965.

1.—(1.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

2. Regulation 544 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " Fifteen thousand and eighteen dollars " and inserting in their stead the words " Fifteen thousand four hundred and sixty-nine dollars ";

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " Twelve thousand six hundred and fifty-eight dollars " and inserting in their stead the words " Thirteen thousand and thirty-eight dollars "; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words " Thirteen thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight dollars " and inserting in their stead the words " Fourteen thousand two hundred and fifty-three dollars ".

Pay of air cadets.

3. Regulation 548 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

4. Regulation 549 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words " or Part IV." and inserting in their stead the words " Part IV. or Part V."; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " or Part IV." and inserting in their stead the words " Part IV. or Part V.".

Pay of airmen apprentices.

5. Regulation 551 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

6. Regulation 555 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " One dollar ten cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar fifteen cents ";

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar sixty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventy cents ";

(c) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar sixty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventy cents ";

(d) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar ten cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar fifteen cents ";

(e) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar sixty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventy cents ";

(f) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar sixty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventy cents "; and

(g) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar ten cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar fifteen cents ".

Conditions to be complied with before marriage allowance is payable.

7. Regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the words " Three dollars forty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " Three dollars fifty-five cents ".

Living out allowance—single members.

8. Regulation 567 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1.) the words " One dollar seventeen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ";

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar eighty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar eighty-five cents "; and

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (b) the words " One dollar seventeen cents" and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ".

Ration allowance.

9. Regulation 569 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2.) the words " One dollar seventeen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ";

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (e) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar eighty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar eighty-five cents "; and

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (e) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar seventeen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ".

Rates of travelling allowance.

10. Regulation 578 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar seventeen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ".

Reduction of rate where subsistence or quarters is provided.

11. Regulation 590 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " One dollar seventeen cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar twenty-two cents ".

Fifth and Sixth Schedules.

12. The Fifth and Sixth Schedules to the Air Force Regulations are repealed and the following Schedules inserted in their stead:—

Additional pay for chaplains.

13.—(1.) In this regulation, " the relevant period " means the period from and including the third day of July, 1969, to and including the eighteenth day of December, 1969.

(2.) A person who, during the relevant period or a part of the relevant period, was an officer of the chaplains branch of the Permanent Air Force or of the Citizen Air Force, not being an officer who during that period or the part of that period held an appointment of Principal Air Chaplain, is, by virtue of this sub-regulation, entitled to additional pay in respect of that period or the part of that period of an amount equal to the amount by which the pay paid or payable to him in respect of that period or the part of that period under regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is less than the amount of pay that would have been payable to him under that regulation if, during the relevant period, the following table had been the table in sub-regulation (8.) of that regulation instead of the table in that sub-regulation:—

(3.) A person who, during the relevant period or a part of the relevant period, held an appointment of Principal Air Chaplain is, by virtue of this sub-regulation, entitled to additional pay in respect of that period or part of that period at the rate of Two dollars and thirty-eight cents per day.

Application.

14.—(1.) The rates of pay and rates of allowances provided for in the Air Force Regulations as amended by regulations 1 to 12 (inclusive) of these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Air Force on and after the nineteenth day of December, 1969.

(2.) Where, but for this sub-regulation, a male member would, by virtue of the application of the amendments of regulation 555 or regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations as from the nineteenth day of December, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine, in accordance with sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation cease to be entitled to marriage allowance or become entitled to marriage allowance at a reduced rate, the member shall not cease to be so entitled to marriage allowance or the rate of marriage allowance shall not be so reduced, as the case may be, until the date of commencement of these Regulations.

(3.) Where an allotment made by a male member was in force in respect of the period from and including the nineteenth day of December, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, or in respect of a part of that period, at a rate that entitled him to marriage allowance at the rate of One dollar ten cents per day but would not entitle him to marriage allowance at the rate of One dollar fifteen cents per day under the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations, the member may increase his allotment in respect of the period or the part of the period, as the case may be, and, if he does so, marriage allowance is payable to him in accordance with the Air Force Regulations as so amended as if his increased allotment had been in force during the period or the part of the period.
