SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Harbin Y12 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/Y12/1 Electrical Cable Chafing 1/2003

 

Applicability: Y12 I or Y12 II aeroplanes, with product numbers 03 to 92 inclusive.

 

Requirement: 1. If not previously accomplished, inspect electrical wires D1-50, D2-50, L7-5.0 and L8-5.0 for chaffing and/or damage in accordance with Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation Service Bulletin (SB) Y12-24-0058 dated 29 August 1995.

 

2.        If any chaffing and/or damage is detected during the Requirement 1 inspection, repair and protect the wiring in accordance with SB Y12-24-0058.

 

3.        If not previously accomplished, install crimp terminals part numbers HB6-91- 18Ag, HB6-91-25Ag and HB6-91-33Ag on wires connecting to the generator and starter-generator switching contactor in accordance with SB Y12-24-0058.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Before 30 April 2003.

 

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after accomplishing the Requirement 1 inspection.

 

For Requirement 3 - At the next aeroplane overhaul (overhaul interval is either 4000 hours time in service or 5000 cycles whiche ver occurs first).

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 23 January 2003.

 

Background: This Directive introduces an inspection to check certain electrical cables that are prone to chafing and/or damage. Additionally, the installation of terminal crimps is required for wires connected to both generators and starter- generator contactors.
