Eagle X-TS Series Aeroplanes
AD/X-TS/2 Rudder Cable Pulleys 2/2000 TX
Applicability: X-TS 150 and 150B, Serial Numbers 001 to 030 inclusive, unless already modified in accordance with Eagle Service Bulletin 1076.
Requirement: 1. Inspect rudder cables in the vicinity of the under-seat pulleys, in accordance with Eagle Service Bulletin 1059, dated 21 January 1999.
2. Modify the under-seat rudder cable pulley installation and reset rudder cable tension, in accordance with Eagle Service Bulletin 1076, dated 26 October 1999.
Compliance: 1. Inspect in accordance with Requirement 1. Within 5 hours time in service after 31 December 1999, unless inspected within the 50 hours time in service prior to 31 December 1999. Repeat the inspection at intervals not to exceed 50 hours, until modified in accordance with Requirement 2.
2. Action in accordance with Requirement 2. Within 100 hours time in service after 31 December 1999, or before 31 December 2000, whichever occurs first.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 24 December 1999.
Background: Several instances of rudder cable fraying have been found, at times in service between 400 and 700 hours. Testing of the required modification has shown that service life will be extended considerably, such that future safety can be maintained with normal maintenance.
