AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Aerospatiale (Socata) TBM 700 Series Aeroplanes
AD/TBM 700/35 Flight Controls - Flap Actuator 10/2004
Applicability: EADS SOCATA TBM 700 aeroplanes.
Requirement: 1. Inner actuators with less than 1200 hours Time in Service:
Clean and lubricate the actuator threaded rod in accordance with paragraph C of EADS SOCATA Service Bulletin 70-118-27 or later revisions as approved by the French DGAC.
2. Inner actuators with more than 1200 hours Time in Service:
- Check the play between the drive nut and the actuator threaded rod in accordance with paragraphs A & B of EADS SOCATA Service Bulletin 70- 118-27 or later revisions as approved by the French DGAC.
b. Clean & lubricate the actuator threaded rod in accordance with paragraph C of EADS SOCATA Service Bulletin 70-118-27 or later revisions as approved by the French DGAC.

Compliance: For Requirement 1: Within the next 110 flight hours after the effective date of this Directive, thereafter at intervals not to exceed 110 flight hours.
For Requirement 2a: Within the next 110 flight hours after the effective date of this Directive, thereafter at intervals not to exceed 330 flight hours.
For Requirement 2b: Within the next 110 flight hours after the effective date of this Directive, thereafter at intervals not to exceed 110 flight hours.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 September 2004.

Background: Excessive wear is being caused to the flap inner actuator drive nut because of the grease within the actuator becoming contaminated. This may lead to improper play between the actuator threaded rod and the drive nut. This Directive requires more frequent lubrication and inspection intervals to prevent the unsafe condition from occurring.
