SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.


 

Honeywell International Turbine Engines - T5508D Series

 

AD/T5508D/2 Compressor Bleed Bands 7/2003

 

Applicability: Honeywell (Avco Lycoming) T5508D engines fitted with Part Number (P/N) 2-160- 147-02 retaining plate spacers and P/N 2-161-182-01 compressor air bleed bands.

Requirement: Replace P/N 2-160-147-02 retaining plate spacers with P/N 2-160-561-01 retainers in accordance with Avco Lycoming Service Bulletin (S/B) 5508-0007, and

Replace P/N 2-161-182-01 compressor air bleed bands with P/N 2-161-182-03 compressor air bleed bands in accordance with Avco Lycoming S/B 5508-0007.

 

Note: FAA AD 76-12-05 refers.

 

Compliance: Prior to issue of an Australian certificate of airworthiness.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 July 2003.

 

Background: Failure of the bleed band can lead to power loss from the engine. Replacement of certain parts will allow proper operation of the bleed band system.
