The initial issue of this directive had effect from 2 January 1997, this Amendment has effect from 14 August 1997.

Background: Several reports of corrosion found in the elevator torque tube of affected aircraft have prompted this Directive. The Directive requires drilling access holes in the torque tube and inspecting for corrosion; and applying a corrosion preventative compound or replacing the torque tube if necessary.

Amendment 1 expands the Applicability to include the Model 227-BC, and provides additional acceptable part number torque tubes for use as replacement items.
