Air Equipment Rescue Hoists 8/88

 

Applicability: All Air Equipment hoists P/N 76370, 76375 and 76365.

 

Requirement: 1. After winding out sufficient cable to release the up lever, visually inspect the upper limit lever return spring P/N 709960 fitted to either side of the lever pivot point for signs of failed spring. If spring has failed the spring must be replaced before any further hoisting operations are carried out.

 

Note: Air Equipment Telex G2631 of 15 October 1987 refers.

 

2. Action in accordance with Bronzavia Air Equipment SB 25-62-0H OR 25-69-0J, as applicable.

 

Note: DGAC AD 88-024 (B) refers.

 

Compliance: 1. At each daily inspection after 9 November 1987.

 

Note: This Inspection may be accomplished by the pilot in command in which case he shall enter and certify for this Directive in Col 2 Part 3 of the Maintenance Release.

 

2. Unless already accomplished by 30 September 1988.

 

Note: Fitment of new spring and pin P/Nos 712174 and 2672-012 will terminate Inspection Requirements of this Directive.

 

Background:  The hoist manufacturer has advised that the up limit travel arm return springs may have broken arms. If the spring arm broken, actuation of the up limit travel micro switch, which stops the cable rewind, may not occur. Overtravel of the hoist cable could result in cable separation from the hook assy.
