Flight Restriction and Limitations - Placard and Modification

Applicability: All Sonerai II, IIL and IILT.

 

Requirement: 1. Fabricate and install a placard in full view of the pilot stating:-

 

  1. All aerobatic flight, including intentional spins, is prohibited.

 

b.    Operation above 925lbs. (420 kgs) gross weight is prohibited.

 

c.    Manoeuvring speed VA 83 knots.

 

d.    Never exceed speed VNE 148 knots.

 

Amend the flight manual with an approved flight manual amendment.

 

Note 1: Attention is drawn to the complementary requirement that ASI limit and sector markings shall comply with these new flight manual limits. AD/GEN/7E para

1.2 refers.

 

Note 2. Sonerai Service bulletin No. 002 refers.

 

A copy of Paragraph 1 of the “Requirement” of this A.D. is to be attached to the flight manual until such times as the flight manual amendment is issued.

 

2 a. Modify wings in accordance with Revision (A) Spar Modification 11-1-83 plan sheets 13, 14, 15 and 16.

 

b. Remove placard and amend flight manual with approved flight manual amendment.

 

Compliance: 1. Before further flight.

 

2. Before 31 December 1985.

 

Background:  The initial issue of this AD imposed the flight restrictions. Sonerai spar modification 11-1-83 restores a conservative structural safety margin and removes limitations imposed by Sonerai Service Bulletin No. 002.
