Wing Strut Distance Piece and Adjacent Side Plates Corrosion

9/93

Requirement: Action in accordance with Shorts Mandatory SB SD330-53-65 Revision 1.

Note: Accomplishment of SB SD330-53-66 constitutes terminating action for the inspections required by SB SD330-53-65 R1.

Compliance: a. Unless the inspection of both the distance piece and adjacent side plates has already been accomplished, within 30 days after 19 August 1993.

b. Reinspect reworked distance pieces and/or side plates at intervals not to exceed 600 hours time in service or 3 months, whichever occurs first.

Background: Corrosion had been detected on the horizontal leg of the distance piece during non routine maintenance. Amendment 1 is issued to reflect a revision of the Requirement Document which introduces an inspection of the side plates in addition to the distance piece, and a repeat inspection of any reworked parts.
