SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

Eurocopter AS 332 (Super Puma) Series Helicopters

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/S-PUMA/33 Amdt 3 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Requirement: 1. Carry out checks described in paragraph 2.B. of Eurocopter AS 332 Alert Service Bulletin No. 01.00.56R1.

2.        Remove from the Rotorcraft Flight Manual, the pink page amendment dated 29 July 1998 and the procedures added to the manual by previous issues of this Directive, and insert the procedures listed below to the “FUEL SYSTEM FAILURES” paragraph in Section 3 “EMERGENCY PROCEDURES” of the Rotorcraft Flight Manual. A copy of this Airworthiness Directive may be inserted in the Rotorcraft Flight Manual for the purposes of the requirement.

PROCEDURE TO BE APPLIED IN FLIGHT IN THE EVENT OF PRE-CLOGGING DETECTION.

“1. IF THE PRE-CLOGGING INDICATOR LIGHT OF ONE OF THE TWO SYSTEMS COMES ON:

APPLY THE PROCEDURE SPECIFIED IN THE FLIGHT MANUAL.

2.           IF THE PRE-CLOGGING INDICATOR LIGHT OF THE OTHER SYSTEM COMES ON:

-  LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

-  COMPLY WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN PARAGRAPH 2.B.1 OF EUROCOPTER AS 332 SERVICE BULLETIN No. 01.00.56R1 AND REPLACE BOTH FILTER CARTRIDGES BEFORE RESUMING FLIGHTS.

- AFTER THE FLIGHT, COMPLY WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN PARAGRAPH 2.B OF EUROCOPTER AS 332 SERVICE BULLETIN No. 01.00.56R1. “

Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, within 25 hours in service from the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive amendment; and

-            Each time the pre-clogging indicator light comes on; and

-            After each installation of a new fuel filter listed in the Applicability section of this Directive.

2.  Unless previously accomplished; within 25 hours time in service from the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive amendment.

This Amendment becomes effective on 27 December 2001.

Background: This Directive has been issued to address reports of fuel filter by-pass valves being found jammed during scheduled fuel filter maintenance. Failure of the filter by-pass valve could result in an engine flameout. This amendment is raised to reflect the manufacturer’s revision to the requirement document. The revision, in part, provides a terminating action. The requirements of this Directive are no longer applicable to helicopters incorporating Mod. 0726087 (SB 28-00-38).

Amendment 3 was raised to delete the AS332L2 model and to add a fuel filter part number and became effective on 28 December 2000.

Amendment 2 was raised to include an additional P/N filter and to reference R2 of the manufacturer’s service telex and became effective on 13 July 2000.

Amendment 1 was raised to list affected fuel filters by part number and became effective 25 February 1999.

The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 5 August 1998.
