AD/RES/4  Aerolex (Harley) Safety Belt Attachment - Inspection and Modification

5/67

Applicability: All Aerolex (Harley) safety belts having attachment lugs fitted with staked-in steel bushes.

Requirement: 1. Inspect all Aerolex safety belts having steel bushes staked into the belt strap terminal lugs to ensure the lugs cannot pull away from their attachment bolts if the bushes should become loose.

2. If it is possible for the lug to pull away from the attachment bolts in cases where the bushes may come loose, install suitable steel washers of larger outside diameter than the bush, under the nuts or heads on the attachment bolts. After installation of washers ensure that the lugs still move freely on the attachment bolts and that the locking elements on the nuts are fully engaged on the bolt threads.

Note: Compliance with the superseded AD/GENERAL/14 will cover the intent of this Directive.

Compliance: Forthwith.
