Applicability: All Fairchild Model F800 Digital Flight Data Recorders (DFDR), all part numbers, with the exception of DFDRs with serial numbers listed below (X indicates any numeral):

Note: This modification has been classified as Mandatory by the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation, Department of Transport and Communications.
Compliance: Prior to 31 August 1995 or at the next shop visit for maintenance, whichever occurs earlier.
Background: Loral Data Systems has reported that there have been cases of erroneous track changes which have been isolated to a component on the Central Processor Unit printed wiring assembly and that the component may also prematurely fail when power is applied to the DFDR, these faults may also remain undetected. Compliance with this Directive will ensure that faults are detected and information critical to the investigation of an accident or incident is not lost.
