Radio Communication and Navigation Equipment

 

AD/RAD/53 Australian Domestic Distance Measuring Equipment

Applicability: All Australian Domestic Distance Measuring Equipment (DME-A).

 

Requirement: Either remove the system from the aircraft or disable the system to prevent its operation.

 

Compliance: Prior to 1 January 1996.

Background: DME-A operates in the 200 MHz band and this band will not be available for use by aeronautical navigation services after 31 December 1995.

 

DME-A ground beacons will not provide a reliable service after 7 December 1995 and will be progressively decommissioned from that date.
