SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Pratt and Whitney Turbine Engines - PW4000 Series
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/PW4000/6 Inspection of Critical Life-limited Rotating Engine Components
Applicability: All Pratt and Whitney (P&W) PW4000 series engines.

Requirement: Comply with Mandatory Inspections on affected rotating engine components identified in the Time Limits Section of the current issue of P&W PW4000 Engine Manual, P/No 50A605, 50A443, 51A342, 50A822, 51A751 or 51A345, as applicable.
Note 1: FAA AD 99-08-15 refers.
Compliance: At each occasion when an affected component is completely disassembled as detailed in the applicable P&W JT9D Engine Manual and has accumulated more than 100 cycles in service since the last piece part inspection, provided the component was not damaged or related to the cause for its removal from the engine.
Note 2: Affected rotating components retired from service due to being either damaged beyond repair or time expired do not require inspection per this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 August 2000.
Background: A FAA/Industry safety analysis of uncontained engine failures attributed to failure of critical rotating engine components has identified a need for improved inspections of these components. Enhanced inspection of selected critical rotating engine components will reduce incidents/accidents attributed to uncontained engine failures.
