Pratt and Whitney Turbine Engines - PW4000 Series

AD/PW4000/10 Engine Stability Improvements 4/2002

Applicability:  Pratt and Whitney PW4000 engines as specified by model in FAA AD 2001-25-11. Requirement:              Action in accordance with the requirements of FAA AD 2001-25-11.

Note 1: FAA AD 2001-25-11 supersedes FAA AD 99-17-16 and FAA AD 2001-15-12.

Note 2: CASA AD/PW4000/5 and AD/PW4000/9 Amdt 1 are superseded by this AD.

Compliance: As detailed in the requirement document with a revised effective date of 18 April 2002.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 18 April 2002.

Background: PW4000 engines are found to be susceptible to instability during take off and climb.

Action mandated by this Directive limits the number of engines with potential instability on each aircraft and introduces revised testing and build standards for engines returned to service.
