AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/PFP/17 Amdt 3 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Hub Cracking 12/2003
Applicability: All McCauley model 1A103/TCM[XXXX] propellers S/N 770001 through 777390 or alpha-numeric serial number BC001 through to but not including KC001.
Note 1: These propellers are fitted on but are not limited to Cessna 152, A152, Reims F152 or FA152 aircraft.
Requirement: Unless previously accomplished in accordance with McCauley Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 221 Revision B or C, inspect and if necessary rework the propeller hub in accordance with McCauley Alert Service Bulletin 221C.
Note 2: FAA AD 2003-12-05 Amdt 39-13190 refers.
Note 3: Propellers previously removed as unserviceable in accordance with the previous inspection criteria may be returned to service provided they meet the inspection and rework requirements detailed in McCauley ASB 221C.
Compliance: Initial inspection prior to 3000 hours propeller time in service since new.
Thereafter, reinspect at intervals not exceeding 800 hours propeller time in service or 12 calendar months, whichever occurs first.
This Amendment becomes effective on 27 November 2003. Background: Several reports of propeller hub cracking have been received.
Amendment 1 was raised to extend the repetitive inspection requirements, mandated by the initial issue of this Directive, from 50 to 800 hours or 12 calendar months, whichever occurs first.
Amendment 2 was raised on receipt of McCauley SB 221B which corrected the propeller mounting bolt torque to a dry torque and changed the specification of the glass shot used to repair the propeller hub.
Amendment 3 was raised to allow additional rework operations at more than one bolthole.

Amendment 4 is raised to correct the compliance statement. Amendment 3 of this Directive became effective 4 September 2003.
Amendment 2 of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 19 June 1997. Amendment 1 of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 27 February 1997.
The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 16 October 1995.
