SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Pilatus Porter PC-6 Series Aeroplanes

 

AD/PC-6/46 Aileron Mass Balance Weights and Flettner Tabs 5/2002

 

Applicability: All PC-6 series aircraft, up to and including MSN 939.

 

Requirement: Action in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Pilatus PC-6 Service Bulletin No. 57-001, dated 20 December 2001, and applicable portions of Pilatus PC-6 Service Bulletin No. 62B.

 

Note: Switzerland FOCA AD HB 2002-001 refers.

 

Compliance: Before 16 June 2002, unless already accomplished.

 

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 May 2002.

 

Background: The aileron configuration on some PC-6 aircraft may be incorrect. In particular, configurations may not comply with that specified in Service Bulletin No. 62B. In addition, suspected bogus parts that do not comply with original manufacturer’s data may have been fabricated and installed during aircraft maintenance and repairs.

Incorrect configuration and/or the use of unapproved parts could result in an unsafe condition.
