Starter Generator and Generator No. 2 Power Return Cables

Applicability: All PC-12 aeroplanes with serial numbers 101 through 147 inclusive.
Requirement: Reroute the starter generator and No 2 generator power return cables and install placard part number 511.32.12.173 above the Standby Magnetic Compass in accordance with Pilatus Aircraft Limited PC-12 Service Bulletin 24-002 Revision 1 dated 20 September 1996.

Note 2: Previous compliance with the original issue of this Directive only partially satisfies the requirements of this amendment. Action must be completed in accordance with Revision 1 of the Service Bulletin.
Compliance: 1. For aircraft with Pilatus PC-12 Service Bulletin 30-001 dated 20 December 1995 (Icing Modifications) incorporated - prior to the next flight into Instrument Meteorological Conditions, but not later than 31 March 1997.
2. For aircraft without Pilatus PC-12 Service Bulletin 30-001 dated
20 December 1995 (Icing Modifications) incorporated - either before or together with the incorporation of Service Bulletin 30-001, but not later than 31 March 1997.
This Amendment becomes effective on 22 January 1997.
Note: A temporary Flight Manual Amendment is required following compliance with this Directive.
Background: Excessive deviations occur on the standby magnetic compass, due to the magnetic field produced by the electrical current in the aircraft structure, when some systems are operated. The actions specified in this Directive are intended to reduce the compass deviation to acceptable limits under all operating conditions.
This amendment introduces Revision 1 to the Requirement Document which extends the applicability range of the directive and requires placarding adjacent to the Standby Magnetic Compass.
The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 10 April 1996.
